Workshop: First test of wearables in live music setting
On October 5 & 6 2026 the entire Technologies of Touch team will meet in Berlin. Day 1 will be a review of project progress and technical testing with collaborator Celine Kim. Day 2 we welcome Erämaa Trio, and will conduct our first tests of the wearable prototypes in the context of their performance of Déplacement by Atau Tanaka.
Publication at NIME
Technologies of Touch has a paper at NIME 2026 in London. Entitled “What NIME Talks About When It Talks About Touch”, this publication represents a thematic analysis of the NIME corpus 2000-2025. NIME is a community deeply engaged with music, but when we looked in the literature we could find little directly about touch. Since touch is a huge part of music we carried out this analysis to get a full picture of what NIME says on the theme of “touch”.
Workshop: Ethics of Touch
On April 27 & 28 2026 the entire Technologies of Touch team will meet in Berlin for a workshop on the Ethics of Touch. On Day 1 we will welcome speakers who will talk on the topic of accessibility, consent and ethics.
